Toni Kroos: Faces spell on the sidelines

Toni Kroos is considering an offer to join Arsenal this summer after Real Madrid reportedly accepted a bid in the region of £35million for the Germany midfielder.

Real are reportedly willing to let the midfielder leave after the former Bayern Munich midfielder failed to settle in the Spanish capital and find his best form. He is contracted to the club until 2020, so would still command a sizeable fee.

According to AS, they are willing to cash in on the 26-year-old, and the player has a number of offers to leave, with Arsenal named as one of the clubs to have tabled a bid.

With Real willing to let the midfielder leave, it’ll be down to Kroos as to which of his suitors he’s like to sign for, but a move to the Gunners would tick plenty of boxes.

A world-class passer that can dictate a game from deep, Kroos would undoubtedly be a real coup for the Gunners, but may not possess the physical midfield presence they are still crying out for.

It’s claimed Kroos’ possible arrival, however, could be seen as a caveat to convince Mesut Ozil to remain at the club for a little while longer, with some Arsenal fans concerned that their star man may leave this summer if the Gunners fail to win a trophy.

Reports in Spain, meanwhile, suggest Real Madrid will look to replace the departing Kroos with Leicester midfield star N’Golo Kante, who has won admirers across Europe with his impressive performances this season.
