Tony Adams claims Arsenal duo in key roles are ‘out of their depth’

Arsenal legend Tony Adams thinks that the likes of Edu and Raul Sanllehi “out of their depth” in their roles at the club.

Technical director Edu and head of football Sanllehi have been drafted in over recent seasons, as Arsenal have developed a new football infrastructure at the Emirates.

Last summer, the Gunners spent big on the likes of Nicolas Pepe and Kieran Tierney. Their other pricey arrival, William Saliba, has been on loan at St Etienne for the season.

And Adams thinks the Gunners’ recent recruitment has been poor, with the scouting network failing in recent times.

“My fundamental issue is with recruitment,” Adams told talkSPORT. “I think the club is going through such a recruitment issue at the moment – it’s not relying on agents.

“That’s not the way to go; It’s not Arsenal DNA i’m afraid. I don’t like it. I’ve got to say it publicly.

“It took Steve Rowley 40 years to build that scouting network; it did brilliantly, got the best players from around the world. And it’s just been blown up.

“Edu, I love him, he’s a beautiful man, it’s not personal, but he has no experience of building European squads.

“Even Raul Sanllehi, came from Barcelona, all the money in the world, it don’t look like he’s going to get money.

“Those people are out of their depth, I’m sorry.

“They need to build a fantastic squad that challenges for the league and it hurts.”

Lacazette on tenterhooks as he warns Aubameyang about break of trust

Alexandre Lacazette says he hopes good friend and fellow Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will inform him of his future plans before he tells the media.

Aubameyang has entered the final year of his contract with the Gunners, leading to rife speculation about his future.

Indeed, reports have linked the Gabon international with a move to Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has previously said he is “positive” about the talks he has held with the striker. Aubameyang himself, meanwhile, has said he wants to finish the season before going further.

In any case, the decision over the future of the striker – who has scored 64 games in 105 games – could have a telling impact on Arsenal’s progress in the seasons to come.

Speaking to beIN Sports, Lacazette said Aubameyang is already an Arsenal legend for his goal record. However, he added that talks between the pair have ended. Read more…
