Tony Adams says key cog may mask Arsenal ‘mob’

Dani Ceballos TEAMtalk

Arsenal legend Tony Adams has all but lost hope with Unai Emery’s defence, but says Dani Ceballos’ magic could make up for their defensive frailties.

Former England centre-back Adams thinks that Real Madrid loanee Ceballos could provide to be Emery’s key man this season.

Ceballos has had a good start to life in England with a couple of assists on his full debut.

The 23-year-old was a passenger in the defeat at Liverpool and was on the bench against Tottenham, but he impressed when he arrived in the second half and Adams thinks he could be a perfect link man for Arsenal’s front three of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, and Nicolas Pepe.

“We’ve just got to sort out the other end of the pitch, really. All over the place,” Adams told Premier League Productions.

“We’re not pulling the strings, we’re not feeding the front three. If we can get the ball into the front three you can see what they can do.

“Ceballos coming on and starting to make us tick, I think he was impressive.

“Just because you’ve got the three strikers, you need someone to link it.”

Adams, 52, though is at a loss to know what to do with the Gunners’ back four, who only kept one clean sheet away from home in the league last season.

“Then just hope for the best at the back, I think that’s all you can do with this mob,” added Adams

“Actually, if we got a good back four in place we’d be going places, I think.

“That’s the problem, I was disappointed in the summer that we didn’t get someone, or two big, strong defenders.

“Because you’ve seen up the other end they are scoring goals for fun.”
