Top source reveals Everton eyeing new attacking upgrade from Leeds as Dyche deliberates double deal

Leeds Utd wingers Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto

Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Everton have placed Leeds United attacker Willy Gnonto onto their wanted list.

Gnonto joined Leeds last summer from FC Zurich and became a popular player at Elland Road. However, his gametime dropped towards the end of the season, which ended with Leeds suffering relegation to the Championship.

As a result, a number of clubs who remain in the top flights of England and his native Italy have been giving Gnonto plenty of attention for a summer transfer.

According to Di Marzio, who is a trustworthy source for transfers – especially those with an Italian theme – Everton are concrete admirers of Gnonto.

Sean Dyche is in the market for attacking reinforcements after his side scored fewer goals than any of the three clubs that suffered relegation from the Premier League this season.

In fact, only Wolves were less threatening in front of goal across the campaign. Thus, Everton will need to find some new ideas across their attack.

Per Di Marzio, Gnonto is now on their radar. Everton could offer him the chance to immediately step back up to the Premier League.

Unlike some of his higher-ranking suitors, they would probably be able to offer him a similar share of gametime to what he currently gets with Leeds too.

It is not yet clear when Everton might make an offer for Gnonto this summer, but they seem to be one of the suitors that Leeds should be listening out for.

Gnonto remains under contract in West Yorkshire until 2027. At the age of 19, perhaps a season in the Championship wouldn’t be the worst thing for his development – especially since he has always been happy at Leeds.

But if the Italy international wants to keep playing in a top tier, he will have a few options to take into account – including Everton.

Everton linked with Leeds duo

Interestingly, Everton were also recently linked with another Leeds winger in the shape of Jack Harrison.

Therefore, even if Di Marzio didn’t mention anything about Harrison himself, the Toffees could theoretically launch a double raid on Leeds, despite the Whites being one of the three sides to finish below them in the 2022-23 Premier League table.

Harrison and Gnonto are both versatile options who could be useful in various attacking roles. They both played most frequently on the left wing this season, but could still feature in the same lineup from different roles.

Indeed, they shared a pitch on 18 occasions last season, directly combining for three goals. Considering Gnonto only played 28 times for Leeds over the course of the campaign, they clearly aren’t players who would get in the way of each other.
