Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has dismissed speculation linking him with a move away from the club in January, insisting that he must remain “focused” on the Gunners’ season.
The Uruguayan international has only managed 15 appearances for Unai Emery’s side this term and recent reports have suggested that he is becoming more and more convinced that leaving the club in the next transfer window would be the right move.
In fact, Torreira’s agent has confirmed that his client is unhappy with how his season is going but now, the player himself has had his say by insisting that he is not thinking about making a move away from North London.
“Today Arsenal needs me to be focused. I can’t start talking about another team,” the 23-year-old told Sport 890. “I need to be focused and when the transfer window arrives we will see what will happens.”
Torreira added that he would like to play for Argentine side Boca Juniors at some point in the future, saying: “I don’t know what can happen in the future. But I wish I could play in Boca. It’s a dream that I have for what that institution represents.”
Torreira joined Arsenal in July last year and he has made 74 appearances for the club so far, chipping in with four goals and one assist.
The Gunners return to Premier League action this weekend with a match against Southampton at the Emirates.
