Arsenal have reached a “total agreement” with Atletico Madrid over a loan deal with an option to buy for midfielder Lucas Torreira, according to a report.
Torreira is one of a number of Gunners stars who the club have allowed to find moves away. Arsenal are keen to bring in guaranteed transfer funds to step up their hunt for signings of their own.
The Uruguay international has held talks with Atletico for a number of weeks, with the deal steadily progressing. Indeed recent reports suggested Torreira had agreed personal terms with the Spanish giants.
According to Goal, however, Arsenal have now agreed a deal with Atletico, which will soon allow the move to go through.
The source says Torreira, 24, will move to Wanda Metropolitano for the rest of the season. Atletico will also have the option to make the deal permanent next summer.
As previously reported though, Goal claims Atletico will put the midfielder’s arrival to one side while they try to shift some of their current talent away from the Spanish capital.
Hector Herrera is a prime candidate to move away although no concrete interest has arrived for the 30-year-old.
Thomas Lemar’s future is also uncertain, with the Frenchman struggling for form since his move from Monaco.
And while Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are both keen on the player, both clubs’ approaches have hit stumbling blocks.
Torreira one of several Arsenal players who could go
As well as Torreira, left-back Sead Kolasinac is another player who could leave before Monday’s transfer deadline.
TEAMtalk revealed last month how Kieran Tierney’s form has proved influential in Arsenal deciding Kolasinac can leave.
However interested parties are yet to reach a deal with Arsenal for the latter defender, who could feature against Liverpool at Anfield on Thursday.
