Dele Alli TEAMtalk

Dele Alli scored a brilliant overhead kick and laid on another two goals as Tottenham brushed Wolsburger aside 4-0 in the Europa League Round of 32 second leg in the capital.

Alli, who was a late sub in the defeat to West Ham at the weekend, was handed another start in Europe. The midfielder had started the first leg encounter (4-1) in Germany last week and he was the chief destroyer at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho rang the changes for the tie, which ended 8-1 on aggregate.

Spurs were 4-1 up from the first leg so Mourinho was able to rest Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Gareth Bale, Tanguy Ndombele and Hugo Lloris.

Spurs needed just 10 minutes to go ahead and it was a brilliant moment of skill from Alli that delivered it.

A loose ball fell to him 15 yards out and with his back to goal he sent a fine bicycle kick looping into the far corner.

Alli’s moment of individual brilliance was the only shining light of an otherwise drab 45 minutes, though Spurs could have been further ahead with late chances.

The best of them fell to Carlos Vinicius just before the break but his shot was cleared off the line by Gustav Henriksson after the striker had expertly rounded the goalkeeper.

Vinicius did though put that right five minutes after the interval with a simple downward header.

Alli’s inch-perfect ball in from the left found the Brazilian at the back post and he nodded in from four yards.

And the former MK Dons man was at it again on 73 minutes when he laid on a third for Gareth Bale.

Bale had only just arrived from the bench when he fired home into the top corner from Ali’s perfectly-weighted pass.

Vinicius (83) then grabbed his second of the night with a powerful finish after good work from sub Dane Scarlett, as Spurs ran riot.
