Tottenham and West Brom target ‘agrees’ Prem move

Tottenham and West Brom target Franco Vazquez has agreed a move to the Premier League, according to his club Palermo.

Vazquez, 27, has already announced that he will be leaving Palermo this summer and Palermo vice-president Guglielmo Micciche has confirmed that West Brom have made a bid for the attacking midfielder.

That bid, reportedly of €15million, has been rejected by the Serie A club with Tottenham believed to be the destination of choice the Argentina-born offensive player.

Palermo chief Guglielmo Micciche, speaking exclusively with Calciomercato.com, said: “Our director of sport Rino Foschi has informed us that there are negotiations ongoing with some English clubs and I think West Bromwich are also in the race.”

Italian giants AC Milan have also been tracking Vazquez, who will cost around €30m, according to Micciche last month.

“I can only say that we’ve talked to AC Milan, but negotiations have been put on hold due to their colloquies to sell the club. Vazquez knows that some Premier League clubs want to sign him and he has informed us he agrees to move abroad,” added Micciche.

“He [president Maurizio Zamparini] has decided the best price for the player. We believe that it will be easier for us to sell him abroad because it will be difficult to find Italian suitors willing to meet our requests.”

The playmaker scored eight goals and provided seven assists, despite Palermo’s struggles near the foot of the Serie A table last season, while Micciche has described him as “one of the last No. 10s left in Italy”.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino played Christian Eriksen as a No. 10 for the majority of last season but it seems as though he is looking to add a player to ease the burden on the Dane, who made 33 Premier League starts last season, scoring six times.
