Tottenham, Arsenal all ears as club chief prepares to sell strike target

Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has admitted that the future of Tottenham target Arkadiusz Milik will be resolved this season, “one way or another”.

The Poland international, who joined from Ajax in 2016, has one year remaining on his current deal.

He has scored 12 goals in 22 games this season but injuries have largely dictated his career in Italy.

Milik suffered two serious knee injuries – one in each of his first two campaigns – before three smaller injuries restricted his game time this time round.

As such, several reports have claimed his future is uncertain, with Tottenham and Arsenal among those with an interest.

Indeed, this summer would represent the best opportunity for Napoli to sell up – if they so desired – with the prospect of a free transfer looming next season.

Giuntoli has confirmed that discussions will take place with Milik, who the sporting director is ready to sell.

“The desire is to renegotiate his contract, so we are talking with his agents,” Giuntoli said (via talkSPORT).

“The objective is to resolve the situation, one way or another. If he doesn’t want to remain, then he will go on to the transfer market.

“Players can remain as long as they do so with the right mentality. Napoli will go forward, with or without Milik.”

Chelsea have also been linked, but their striker hunt could be over if reported interest in Timo Werner is true.

TOTTENHAM MAKE ZANIOLO DECISION?

Nicolo Zaniolo TEAMtalk

And while he still remains a target, the Italian’s £62million asking price has reportedly put Spurs off.
