Tottenham and Arsenal could sign RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer for less than £30million in next summer’s transfer window, according to a report.
Both London clubs have supposedly shown interest in bringing the Austrian midfielder to the Premier League.
What’s more, his Bundesliga employers have suggested that they could agree his sale within the next six months.
Sabitzer’s contract expires in 2022 and sporting director Markus Krosche said recently that talks over an extension are on hold until after the January window.
However, he refused to rule out Sabitzer making a swift move to a new club given his recent development. Recent reports, meanwhile, have suggested that the 26-year-old could be available for £30million next summer.
Leipzig are reportedly willing to see him leave for less than £30million if he is unwilling to pen a new contract.
Indeed, the Bundesliga club would want to recoup a fee should Sabitzer make a concrete decision to move on.
Krosche said of Sabitzer: “As I said, he has made a great development. It goes without saying that other clubs also notice this.
“I don’t like singling out anyone individually. But Marcel Sabitzer has really developed well.
“I also deal with him outside of the field. He accepts the role of captain extremely well and has matured even further as an individual.”
Sabitzer has so far chipped in with three goals and three assists in all competitions this season. Last season, meanwhile, he netted 16 goals and laid on 11 others.
Skriniar shuts Tottenham transfer talk down
Meanwhile, Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar has said that he never planned to leave the Serie A club in the last transfer window.
Spurs were linked with a big-money move for the Slovakian as part of a mission to strengthen at centre-back.
However, the centre-back has redressed the balance over his intentions in previous months.
