Tottenham are closing in on a deal for a former England No 1 Joe Hart after he ran down his Burnley contract last season.
Tottenham risk having to name a reduced squad in both Premier League and Uefa competitions. That is due to the fact that they currently have too many players who do not qualify as homegrown.
Hart, who had been linked with West Brom, will help address that balance – where he will join up with Hugo Lloris and Paulo Gazzaniga.
The 33-year-old moved to Turf Moor two years ago. He made 19 appearances in his first season before enduring a difficult second campaign with the Clarets.
Nick Pope was installed as first-choice goalkeeper and Hart made just three appearances in cup competitions.
Hart’s impending arrival comes after Spurs completed a £19m deal for midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg last week.
PERISIC MOVE BACK ON
Leeds United and Tottenham are “knocking at the door” for Ivan Perisic as Bayern Munich struggle to meet Inter Milan’s asking price, according to reports.
Perisic spent the 2019-20 season on loan at Bayern from Inter. The Croatian winger scored eight goals and added six assists across all competitions.
Bayern have the option to buy Perisic for €20m as part of last summer’s loan agreement. However, with market values dropping due to Covid-19, Inter would be willing to accept €15m.
That’s according to FCInterNews, who admit that Bayern don’t want to bid anything more than €10m.
