Tottenham are said to be ‘intensively considering’ departing Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic as their next manager, but could face two Premier League rivals for his signature.
Spurs will appoint a new permanent boss over the coming weeks, with Ryan Mason still in interim charge, following the sacking of Jose Mourinho in April. According to BILD, they could be ready to move for Terzic, who is also wanted by Crystal Palace and Newcastle.
Terzic, 38, was appointed Dortmund boss until the end of the season after Lucien Favre was sacked back in December.
However, BILD (via Sport Witness) states that Terzic will leave the Bundesliga giants this summer. To that end, several clubs are already showing an interest in his services, including the trio from England.
The report adds that Terzic could be an ideal replacement for Mourinho as is ‘young, eloquent, emotional, speaks fluent English and knows the Premier League’ after a spell as a coach at West Ham.
Those qualities are said to be intriguing Daniel Levy, who has been impressed with the Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel model at Liverpool and Chelsea respectively. Indeed, Levy had been hoping to appoint RB Leipzig chief Julian Nagelsmann but got beaten to the punch by Bayern Munich.
But if Levy does decide to make a move for Terzic, he will face rivals in Palace and Newcastle.
The Eagles are on the hunt for a new boss after Roy Hodgson decided to announce his retirement. In Newcastle’s case, the fans remain unhappy with Steve Bruce, which might force Mike Ashley’s hand once again.
May 20 Transfer Chatter: Spurs in for Henderson, Leicester set for double swoop, Giroud on his way
Tottenham have targetted Dean Henderson to replace Hugo Lloris, Leicester look set to make two big summer signings and clubs line up for Chelsea's Olivier Giroud.
As for Terzic, he’s stated that he wants to finish the season at Dortmund. Saying he wants to ‘let it sink in’ and then make a decision.
The report adds that Terzic is torn between remaining at Dortmund and trying a fresh challenge in England.
However, there is every chance it could be the latter. Marco Rose is coming in as the new Dortmund boss, which means Terzic taking a step back again.
Crunch talks prompt new Lloris deal
Meanwhile, Tottenham skipper Hugo Lloris is reportedly set to extend his stay at Tottenham beyond this summer, despite talk of a potential exit.
The France World Cup winner will enter the final year of his current deal this summer, with some reports suggesting that he has no intention on penning a new one. Lloris has been at Spurs since signing from Lyon for €15million back in 2012.
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated last month that Tottenham were yet to make a decision regarding the 34-year-old’s future.
French giants PSG and Lloris’ former club Nice have both been mooted as potential destinations for the veteran stopper.
However, Football Insider claims that Lloris is set to end doubts over his future and remain at the club.
The Frenchman is said to have held crunch talks with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy. During those discussions, he expressed his willingness to continue at the club.
Lloris is set to put pen-to-paper on a new contract. That will extend his time at the club to beyond a decade and potentially longer.
