Tottenham defensive target can ‘imagine’ move after ‘good publicity’

Jerome Boateng can imagine moving to London amid links with a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur, one journalist claims.
Boateng will be available on a free transfer in the summer when his contract with Bayern Munich expires. He has given them many years of service, winning a vast number of trophies. However, with Dayot Upamecano on his way in, they are ready to show Boateng the door.
Bayern could have a new-look backline next season with David Alaba also leaving on a free. There will be plenty of interest in both players.
A return to the Premier League could be an option for Boateng. He previously struggled to show his true quality in a short stint with Manchester City but has proven a point in Germany since.
Reports recently emerged claiming Tottenham could make a move to sign him. Jose Mourinho is desperate for defensive reinforcements and signing someone like Boateng on a free would be a wise addition.
The defender has previously admitted he would not rule out a return to England and now Spurs could be the ones to benefit.
Bild journalist Christian Falk has confirmed that Boateng would consider Tottenham as a potential destination. However, there have been no formal talks yet.
Falk said (via Sport Witness): “Yes, from the people we heard about the potential interest and that the player very well could imagine a move to London at the moment.
“Nothing has been said yet, there are no concrete talks, but just that his name appears on the shortlist.
“I think his stock has gone up a bit because we saw him playing against Paris Saint Germain and he was used to defend against Neymar. It was good publicity for the man.”

Jose Mourinho: Top-four race could go to last minute
Jose Mourinho admits Tottenham are in a battle to finish in the top four of the Premier League, and believes the European places may only be decided in the last minute of the season.
Just because he can imagine a move to London does not necessarily mean Tottenham will be the destination, though.
Arsenal and Chelsea also play in the capital and have both been linked. The latter in particular are looking for additional reinforcements at centre-back.
But Spurs have made Boateng a priority, so could be confident of beating their rivals to the 2014 World Cup winner.
Still only 32 years old, he has more than 350 appearances for Bayern to his name. But as the end of the season approaches, he could embark on a new adventure back in England.
Tottenham told to change whole backline
Boateng may not be the only defender Tottenham pursue this summer. Mourinho has not been satisfied with his options there all season so could go after more players.
Davinson Sanchez has also been linked with a departure from the club, which would further their need for reinforcements.
In fact, one pundit recently suggested that Tottenham need to sign an entire new back four if they are to return to Champions League contention.
