Jose Mourinho’s reaction to Harry Kane’s injury last season has been revealed by the Tottenham Hotspur series on Amazon Prime.
The ‘All or Nothing’ documentary is giving fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse at what life was like at Tottenham last season – and Mourinho’s presence on camera is proving to be fascinating.
One of the biggest moments of the season for Spurs was when star striker Harry Kane suffered an injury in January.
It left Tottenham with a lack of recognised strikers, and they ultimately failed to bring an out-and-out centre-forward in during the winter transfer window.
The delay to the season meant that Kane could return in time for the end of the campaign. He started their first game after lockdown against Manchester United, and scored seven goals in the eight games after that.
Hence, it could have been a lot worse for Spurs – and Mourinho knew it.
Mourinho thought Tottenham were ‘f***ed’
The documentary revealed his instant reaction after being told by head medic Geoff Scott that Kane would be out for three months after a scan.
Speaking to his coaching staff in Portuguese, as quoted by The Sun, Mourinho said: “Three months minimum… minimum.
“Three months if he doesn’t have surgery. Three months out. We’re f***ed.”
Ultimately, Kane scored 24 goals in 34 games across all competitions in 2019-20, as Tottenham reached Europa League qualification.
