Tottenham’s Jules Kounde transfer breakthrough has one condition, as Paratici readies axe for eight players

Jules Kounde France TEAMtalk

Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde is open to a move to Tottenham, while new Spurs director of football Fabio Paratici is ready to clear out as many as eight players, claim reports.

Paratici arrived from Juventus as Spurs’ first director of football at the start of July and has already put Nuno Espirito Santo in place as head coach.

But the Italian now wants to clear the decks at Spurs and has plans to offload a large number of fringe players.

According to The Times, Tottenham are ready to part ways with Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier, Joe Hart, Serge Aurier, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jack Clarke, Toby Alderweireld and Harry Winks.

Plans are already in place to send Erik Lamela to LaLiga side Sevilla. That will be part of a cash-plus-player swap deal to sign Bryan Gil.

Gil is set to become the club’s first summer signing. H will arrive from Sevilla in a £21.6m deal with Lamela moving to the Spanish club.

Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini is also heading to the capital on loan. That deal will have the option to make it permanent for £13m.

Paratici is also negotiating for Gollini’s Atalanta team-mate Cristian Romero.

According to Sky Sports, Spurs have made an offer of at least £34m, plus £8.5m in bonuses, but no deal has been agreed.

Spurs set to swap Lamela for Bryan Gil

Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the signing of Sevilla's Spanish midfielder Bryan Gil for a reported fee of €25m plus Argentina winger Erik Lamela.

Spurs are also interested in Sevilla star Kounde and have been all summer. And the fact that a deal with Romero has not been concluded may be due to Kounde’s change of heart.

Kounde sweetener

According to football.london’s Tottenham correspondent Alastair Gold, Kounde is interested in joining Spurs, as long as Real Madrid don’t make an approach.

Rewal Madrid are understood to be Kounde’s number one choice. The LaLiga giants though have got financial constraints due to the Covid-19 pandemic and are not thought to be prioritising a deal for Kounde.

Gold said: “I’m told that he would be interested in a move to Spurs as long as Real Madrid don’t enter the picture.

“Sevilla have an interest in Davinson Sanchez which could help any potential move.”

And as stated by Gold, Paratici could use centre-back Sanchez a sweetener in a potential deal for Kounde.

The defender has a release clause of €80m.

Sevilla are believed to be willing to take around €60m for the player, whose contract runs until 2024.
