Paris Saint-Germain coach Mauricio Pochettino “is in talks with Tottenham” over a sensational return to the club, according to a multiple sources.

The Athletic report that Pochettino is the man Daniel Levy wants back at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium just 18 months after leaving. The Argentine coach was appointed at the Parc des Princes in January. He signed a contract until June 2022, with the option for an extra year.

The source claim the French club do not want the upheaval of losing their head coach, despite losing their Ligue 1 title to Lille. PSG were also eliminated by Man City in the Champions League semi-finals.

Pochettino did guide the French giants to the Coupe de France title. He also landed the French Super Cup, but it has been a difficult season.

Sky Sports have also followed with the story, but have very little details.

Instead The Athletic report that Spurs players are “excited” by the prospect of Pochettino returning to the club.

TF1 journalist Julien Maynard has also reported that Pochettino has had held talks with Levy and “would like to return to the Spurs bench”.

PSG problems

Apparently the PSG coach has been “disappointed by certain ways of doing things at PSG”.

While, journalist Abdellah Boulma, via Sport Witness, says the rumours regarding Pochettino’s unrest “aren’t completely unfounded”.

His relationship with director of football Leonardo is “not exactly idyllic”. Although, per the source, “no decision has been taken” regarding his future.

The 49-year-old was a very popular figure during his first stint in charge. He led the club to the Champions League final and secured a top-four finish in four of the five seasons he was in charge.

He was also just seven games away from reaching the 300-mark before being “relieved of his duties” by Levy.
