Spurs linked again as Man Utd man tipped for roller coaster end to Jan window
Tottenham remain keen on signing Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard alongside a host of other clubs, a report has claimed.
The Englishman has become frozen out at United, making only three appearances all season. More tellingly, though, he has yet to feature in the Premier League for boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
As such, several sides have reportedly expressed an interest in a potential loan deal for the 28-year-old.
Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has prepared a ‘dossier’ explaining why Lingard should move to South Yorkshire. Meanwhile, French club Nice are also keen.
However, previous reports have suggested that Solskjaer is wary of trimming his squad too much. He has already sold Timothy Fosu-Mensah and could also lose Sergio Romero and Marcos Rojo this month.
talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook claimed that such a stance could set Lingard could up for a roller coaster finish to the January transfer window.
“Clubs are literally queuing up for Jesse Lingard, not just in England,” he said.
“West Ham, Tottenham, and Sheffield United have all expressed an interest. We know about Nice, Porto have also been mentioned to me, but Manchester United’s stance hasn’t really changed.
“Despite the fact that Lingard isn’t part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans, he’s reluctant to trim his squad.
“So I think this is one that will go right to the end of the window when Solskjaer can assess his squad, see who’s fit and see if he can let Lingard go out and play football.”
Lingard’s only appearances this term have come in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup. As such, he has only played 179 minutes of football in just over four months.
Wolves reach agreement for Spurs-linked striker
Elsewhere, reports in Spain have claimed that Wolves have reached an agreement to sign Willian Jose.
The Real Sociedad striker was a target for Spurs in last year’s January window, but the north Londoners did not sign him.
Instead, they went for Carlos Vinicius on loan from Benfica in the most recent market, but Jose has regained – and looks likely to move to – new Premier League suitors.
