Defender gets his wish as Tottenham, Liverpool join expanded list of suitors

Merih Demiral Juventus

Everton are not alone in their pursuit of Juventus defender Merih Demiral, as Tottenham and Liverpool have reportedly re-joined the chasing pack.

Demiral is expected to be available for transfer this summer after two injury-plagued seasons at Juventus. The Turkey international still has big potential but seems unlikely to find the space to fulfil it at Juventus. Hence, a move to the Premier League could be in store.

It was recently claimed that Everton were ready to make their move for the centre-back. While he may consider their offer, reports said he was holding out for a bigger club.

That interest may arrive from Tottenham, who were one of his suitors in January. And according to TuttoJuve, they have reignited their pursuit.

Spurs are looking to strengthen defensively for next season. Jose Mourinho was not happy with that area of their squad before his departure and now they could look to strengthen it for their next head coach.

Both Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez have been linked with moves away from the club. Even if they stay, though, Tottenham will want to reinforce the role.

Demiral could add strength to their backline and at 23 years old has an interesting blend of experience and potential.

He is attracting plenty of admirers, with TuttoJuve adding Liverpool and Manchester City to his list of potential destinations.

Jordan Simpson is back with your daily dose of transfer gossip.

Liverpool were said to have made a bid for him on deadline day in February before turning to his compatriot Ozan Kabak. They look optimistic of signing Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig in the summer, so would seemingly only need Demiral if that fell through.

City, meanwhile, shored up their backline with the addition of Ruben Dias last summer. Coupled with the return to form of John Stones, the results have been positive.

Hence, Tottenham seem to be in the greatest need out of Demiral’s Premier League suitors.

He is also reportedly on the radar of La Liga rivals Atletico and Real Madrid. Hence, it seems he will have plenty of options to choose from when the summer transfer window arrives.

The report from TuttoJuve claims there have been no bids for Demiral’s services yet. However, with so many clubs watching on, it may be a matter of time.

Tottenham set sights on striker

Andrea Belotti TEAMtalk

Spurs are also looking to strengthen in attack as well as at the back. To do so, they are looking at a player at Juventus’ rivals Torino.

The man in question is Andrea Belotti, whose contract expires in 2022. As such, he has been linked with Manchester United and Tottenham.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Torino could accept an offer of around €25m.

That price tag has probably brought several suitors to the table and Calciomercato names Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur as protagonists.

The pair have “set their eyes” on the striker, but they face competition several other Serie A sides. In fact “offers aren’t lacking” for him this summer.
