Tottenham have confirmed one individual at their club is the only person out of 1,197 tested positive in the latest round of Premier League coronavirus tests.

It is another encouraging set of results, with no positive tests in the previous round.

The individual concerned must now self-isolate for a period of seven days.

A Tottenham statement said: “We have been informed by the Premier League that we have received one positive test for COVID-19 following the latest round of testing at our Training Centre.

“Due to medical confidentiality, the individual’s name will not be disclosed.

“They are currently asymptomatic and will now self-isolate for seven days, in line with Premier League protocol, before undergoing further testing.

“We shall continue to strictly adhere to the Premier League’s Return to Training protocol, which ensures our Training Centre remains a safe and virus-free working environment.”

The latest round of testing comes a week after the Premier League approved contact training.

‘Project Restart’ is well underway, with the top flight’s return scheduled for June 17.

A total of 13 people have now tested positive from a total of 3,882 tests.
