Nicolo Zaniolo is the man that Tottenham will end their self-imposed transfer ban with, according to a report in Italy.
Spurs have not made a signing in the last two transfer windows, but they remain in pole position to finish behind Man City and Liverpool in the Premier League and claim a place in the Champions League.
And according to Tuttosport they will make a splash in the transfer window this summer and are ready to pay €50million to bring Zaniolo midfielder to England.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has impressed for Roma this season in his breakthrough season in Serie A.
Zaniolo has made 33 appearances, scoring six goals this season and his mature performances have caught the eye of scouts all over Europe.
Monchi spotted Zaniolo at Inter Milan last summer and paid an initial fee of €4.5million, with Inter retaining 15% of any transfer fee.
Juventus seem to be the most interested side in the Inter youth product, with Fabio Paratici apparently having met the player’s agent.
However, Spurs have also thrown their hat into the ring and may see the Massa-born player as a replacement for Christian Eriksen, who has been linked with a big-money move away from Spurs.
Roma are desperate to hang on to the player, who has blossomed far sooner than expected in the capital. The club have been trying to tie the player to a more lucrative contract – reportedly improving his €300,000 salary to around €2million.
