Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Fabio Paratici will be joining the club in the role of Managing Director, Football.
Paratici has been heavily linked with Spurs since leaving Juventus recently and it is now official. He was one of the key figures who helped Juve re-establish their dominance in Serie A over the past decade. But now, he is ready to take on a new challenge in the Premier League with Tottenham.
The Italian will hope to bring his experience to his new surroundings, where he has plenty of tasks to get to work on. For example, he must appoint a new head coach, which is expected to be Paulo Fonseca.
It will be one of many items on his to-do list as Tottenham try to revive their fortunes. And Paratici is relishing the challenge.
“I am thrilled by this fantastic opportunity and I thank the Club and the Chairman for the trust in me,” he told Tottenham’s official website.
Planet Sport Euros Preview Predictions
Who do you think will Euro 2020? Who will be top scorer? Where will England finish? Mark Smith asks Pete Farries and Scott Allen for their predictions.
“Tottenham is one of the top clubs in the UK and in Europe with an ambitious long-term plan.
“I will dedicate all myself to this new venture and look forward to working with the management team to write a new and hopefully successful chapter in the Club history.”
His contract will officially begin on July 1st. But he will likely be influencing club decisions already.
Levy explains Paratici appointment
Chairman Daniel Levy explained the club’s decision to appoint the 48-year-old, citing his experience and success with Juventus.
“I’ve known Fabio for a number of years and he brings with him a wealth of experience in scouting, youth and football operations,” Levy added. “He has an outstanding track record in assembling competitive squads.
“As we all know, Juventus have been a highly successful club and he has been a major part of that. He will be a great addition to the management structure.
“I am delighted that he will be heading up the football side of the Club as we look ahead to next season.”
