Tottenham remain keen on striker deal as Kane exit rumours gather pace

Harry Kane Tottenham TEAMtalk

Tottenham are still reportedly keen on making a move for Southampton frontman Danny Ings this summer, as rumours persist that Harry Kane could quit the club.

The England skipper is said to be seriously pondering his future in north London, with suggestions that missing out on Champions League football again could be the final straw. With that in mind, it would appear that Spurs are already doing their homework on potential replacements for their talisman.

Eurosport claims that Jose Mourinho’s men are closely monitoring Ings, but have also looked at other targets. The report states that one of those options is Stuttgart forward Sasa Kalajdzic.

The Telegraph reported back in January that Ings was holding off on penning a new St Mary’s deal.

The 28-year-old is heading towards the final year of his contract and wants to see if a Champions League club comes calling.

While that might not be Tottenham, the jump in quality could be tempting enough for Ings to make the move.

Ings might also be viewed as a cut-price option to come in as Kane’s deputy, if the Spurs star stays put.

Jamie Redknapp and Roy Keane once again debated the quality of the Tottenham Hotspur squad following the 3-1 defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League.

But if Kane was to leave, then the opportunity of being Tottenham’s No.1 striker would be on offer for the Saints hitman.

Both Manchester United and Manchester City are expected to be in the hunt for Kane. A move abroad could also be on the cards.

The next few weeks will be telling, as Spurs look to go on a run they hope will seal fourth spot.

Tottenham six on chopping block

Tottenham will look to offload “at least six players” this summer before they can start thinking about strengthening their squad, claims a report.

Spurs have been hit hard by the Covid-19 lockdown and announced losses of £63.9m in November. That has led to rethink from Daniel Levy how to approach the summer transfer window, with sales expected.

The Daily Mail reports Tottenham “will be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper, right back and central defender” when the window gets underway in June. Burnley’s Nick Pope reportedly their top keeper target.

However, before Jose Mourinho can start allocating funds for new arrivals, he will have to offload some of his squad.

Serge Aurier, Hugo Lloris, Erik Lamela and Juan Foyth could all be moved on with their futures in doubt.

Danny Rose will end his 14-year spell at the club when his contract expires in the summer.

Dele Alli and Harry Winks could also find their time up this summer. Neither have managed to get much game time recently and both have been linked with moves abroad. They are also two players who would command sizeable transfers fees, as Spurs look to balance the books.

Loan forwards Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius also look set to return to their respective clubs.
