Tottenham step up efforts to land Prem playmaker

Tottenham are reportedly ready to step up their interest in West Ham star Manuel Lanzini in the January transfer window.

Mauricio Pochettino is said to be a big fan of his fellow Argentine and the report in The Sun claims that the Spurs chief is ready to test the Hammers’ resolve to keep the player in January.

The 24-year-old is regarded as West Ham’s star performer and since arriving in England has certainly made an impression on Pochettino after scoring three goals against Spurs.

The Tottenham chief is looking to add more creativity to his attack, with Tottenham so far struggling to cut loose in the Premier League, despite scoring plenty of goals in the Champions League against the likes of Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

New Hammers chief David Moyes is highly unlikely to sanction Lanzini’s exit, given West Ham’s struggles at the wrong end of the table, while the playmaker still has three years remaining on his current contract.

Lanzini, who has only scored once this season, missed a penalty as West Ham suffered a 4-0 defeat at Everton in midweek.
