Tottenham want £17.3m Prem star to fill centre-back void

Willy Boly TEAMtalk

Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Willy Boly from Premier League rivals Wolves in the January transfer window.

It has been reported by Sport Witness that Spurs are keeping “close tabs” on the 28-year-old centre-back, as concerns grow that stalwarts Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld will quit the club in 2020.

The Belgian duo are both out of contract next summer, prompting Mauricio Pochettino to begin his search for alternatives – should the Spurs boss survive the current calls for his head after a run of bad results.

However, the report adds that a number of other clubs in the Premier League are also interested in securing the services of the Frenchman – with north London rivals Arsenal also recently linked.

It’s stated that Tottenham are scouting the former FC Porto defender on a regular basis, with Boly rated at €20million (£17.3m).

Should Vertonghen and Alderweireld leave, that would leave Pochettino with promising duo Davinson Sanchez, a former record signing, and Juan Foyth as centre-back options – prompting speculation that Boly would provide a more experienced option.
