Dele Alli TEAMtalk

Tottenham are surprisingly not looking to sell or loan out Dele Alli during the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster has been briefed by Spurs who claim that the frozen-out midfielder is expected to stay and fight for his place in the team.

Ali played just 16 minutes for the club last month and has made only four appearances for Spurs in the Premier League this season.

Jose Mourinho criticised Alli last month after his flick gave the ball away that led to the counter attack for the goal Tottenham conceded against Stoke.

“For me a player who plays in that position is a player that has to link and create and not create problems for his own team,” he said.

“They got us in counter attack, so yes I was upset.”

Earlier in December Mourinho insisted he did not have an issue with the former MK Dons man.

“I don’t have any problem with Dele, I don’t have any problem with any one of the players. It’s not about that,” said Mourinho, after he called the player “lazy” in a clip from Amazon’s All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur documentary.

Speculation has suggested that Alli will be moved on this month and PSG are believed to have tried to sign him in the summer. They have just appointed former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as their new head coach and could well renew their efforts to sign the England man.

But Sky insist Spurs do not want to allow Alli to leave as they continue to compete in four competitions.

Mourinho does have Gareth Bale, Giovani Lo Celso and Erik Lamela all unavailable. And is apparently keen to have Alli at his disposal despite hardly playing him so far.

It sounds like Sky have been purposely fed the official line from the club. However, if a serious offer is made for Alli it will be interesting to see whether the club’s stance changes.

Spurs will listen to offers for duo

Meanwhile, the club are willing to allow Paulo Gazzaniga and Danny Rose to leave the club.

Sky Sports report that both players are up for sale.

Gazzaniga, who has 18 months on his contract, has not featured in a squad this season.

Joe Hart has been preferred as Lloris’ back-up and Mourinho will look to move the 29-year-old on.

Rose, who was loaned to Newcastle last season, is also a player the club will listen to offers for.

Rose was not even handed a shirt number for this campaign and he is a free agent in the summer.
