Arsenal line up a £25million raid on Ajax to kick-start their summer spending while West Ham respond to reports of Chelsea’s firm interest in a midfield star – all in the latest Paper Talk.

ARTETA SETS UP £25m AJAX RAID?

Arsenal are readying a £25million move for exciting Ajax winger Quincy Promes, according to a report.

The Gunners are close to finalising a deal for Willian after his exit from Chelsea, with the Brazilian to confirm his switch across London in the coming days.

However, according to The Sun, boss Mikel Arteta wants more reinforcements up top and is eyeing a move for Promes.

Reports linked Arsenal with a move for the Netherlands international last summer, when Unai Emery was in charge.

Now, the newspaper claims Arteta is keen and feels a £25million move for the player will “kick-start” his spending plans.

Indeed, a source close to the player reportedly told The Sun that Promes would love a move to the Gunners.

The source said: “Quincy would go in a heartbeat. It would be a great move for him – and Arsenal.”

Promes moved to Ajax from Sevilla last summer, scoring 16 goals and assisting five others in his debut season.

He would not be the first Ajax star to leave in recent months, following Hakim Ziyech’s move to Chelsea.
