Arsenal want a top Bundesliga star in January and are set to make a formal bid, while Chelsea and West Ham are locked in a fight to land an upcoming RB Leipzig left-back, according to Monday’s transfer gossip.

KONATE TOPS ARSENAL WANTED LIST

Arsenal are set to make contact with RB Leipzig in the coming weeks with a formal offer to sign defender Ibrahima Konate.

The 21-year-old has developed into a fine centre-half during his time at Leipzig. However, he could be allowed to leave in 2021 with Leipzig prefering to retain the services of Dayot Upamecano.

But according to  TodoFichajes, via the Daily Mail, Konate has now emerged as a top target for Arsenal.

They claim Mikel Arteta and Edu have identified the France U21 star as a priority signing and are preparing a January approach.

The report claims that Leipzig, however, would rather delay his sale until the end of the season.

Nonetheless, Arsenal will press ahead with a potential swoop and want him to partner Gabriel Magalhaes in defence.

Arteta and Edu want to build an solid spine in the Arsenal side. They again showed their soft touch after falling to a 2-1 home defeat to Wolves on Sunday.

That left Arsenal down in 14th place and left Arteta having to fend off questions about the sack.
