Paper Talk: Arsenal to secure four deals as midfielder swap is mooted

Arsenal will open talks with Roma over a midfield target this week and also hope to tie down three more stars, while Liverpool will push on with efforts to sign a £40m attacker, according to Monday’s paper gossip.

Arsenal will push to sign Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara this week, according to reports.

Mikel Arteta is looking to add more bite to his midfield this summer and has seen efforts for Thomas Partey fail.

However, the Gunners could have more joy with Diawara, with Roma seemingly willing to sell.

Furthermore, Arsenal could even land Diawara without spending a penny.

As per the London Standard, a swap deal involving Lucas Torreira is being explored.

The Uruguayan midfielder is looking to return to Serie A this summer and Roma are among those interested.

Diawara made 30 appearances last season and is rated by the captial club.

But the player’s agent admits links to Arsenal make his client proud. As such, Tuttomercatoweb expect an approach from Arsenal to be made.

Diawara’s agent, Daniele Piraino, told the Italian outlet: “He is concentrated on his career. Diawara is at a top club like Roma, where he is happy, as there is enthusiasm around the new owners.

“However, he is also liked by many clubs in England, including Arsenal.

“Being linked with certain clubs is pleasing for him, as these are prestigious sides.

“Amadou is concentrated on football and his career.”

As well as looking to sign Diawara, Arteta also hopes to tie down three other current stars this week.

As per the Daily Mirror, new deals for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Emiliano Martinez and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are taking a priority at Arsenal. Talks are continuing and a breakthrough is expected for all three this week.
