Paper Talk: Arsenal linked with staggering £120m double raid on City

Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy, Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling

Manchester City have put four big names up for sale – and Arsenal are readying a £120m move for two of them, while Saturday’s transfer gossip claims a Tottenham attacker is ready to leave after just 18 months at the club.

Manchester City are preparing to offload both Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling this summer – with the pair both linked with Arsenal.

The Daily Mail claims Pep Guardiola is already making plans to freshen up his squad this summer. That’s despite City having the chance to win the Champions League on Saturday evening when they face Chelsea in Porto.

They state he is willing to make a number of his players available for transfer, with Sterling and Mahrez the two biggest casualty names.

Sterling has lost his place in the side this season with Guardiola prefering Phil Foden on the left of his attack.

Mahrez, meanwhile, has been a regular but at 30 years of age, will have a decreasing valuation in the market. He has two years left on his deal and could consider himself unlucky to depart.

Incredibly to us, the Mail claims it is Arsenal who surprisingly lead the charge for both. They state the pair, valued at £60m apiece, will be the subject of a double approach from the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta needs to rebuild his squad after a difficult season at the helm. They finished eighth and will be without European football next season for the first time since 1995/96.

Transfer Chatter - Barcelona went Pep back as Manchester City focus on Premier League star, while Arsenal and Brighton are negotiating a swap deal.

Barcelona are willing let Ronald Koeman leave in order to bring back Pep Guardiola as Manchester City turn their attention to Jack Grealish, while Arsenal and Brighton remain locked in talks over a potential swap deal, all in today's transfer chatter.

However, it seems doubtful how they would fund their signings. As well as significant transfer fees, the pair are also both on big wages.

Sterling, for example, is on wages of £300,000 a week, while Mahrez is paid an estimated £120,000 a week.

The article claims Aymeric Laporte and Gabriel Jesus are the two other players who could move on this summer.

Laporte, called into the Spain squad for Euro 2020, admits he will consider a move following a tough season.
