Paper Talk: Arsenal in talks to sign goal-hungry Shakhtar Donetsk winger

Manor Solomon

Arsenal have opened negotiations over a deal to sign a versatile Israeli star, Sergio Aguero is set to return to Spain, while Liverpool and Man Utd have been informed of a new price tag for Kaliodou Koulibaly, according to Wednesday’s transfer gossip.

GUNNERS KEEN ON SOLOMON DEAL

Arsenal are in talks over a surprise January deal to sign Shakhtar winger Manor Solomon.

The 21-year-old Israeli has been in excellent form for the Ukrainians so far this season. Solomon has five goals in 17 appearances so far and his flexibility is of huge appeal to Mikel Arteta.

Solomon, who prefers the left wing, can also operate on the right wing or as an attacking midfielder.

And after watching him for well over a year, The Guardian claims Arsenal have made an approach to his representatives.

The paper claims the Gunners will follow up their initial approach by opening talks over a deal. The Guardian, however, suggests the deal may be one for the summer.

Solomon’s agent, Ronen Katsav, has also confirmed the winger is likely to move at the end of the season.

“I think the bigger transfers will happen in the summer. January is always corrections,” he told Israel’s Radio 5. “Secondly, the corona is affecting, and things will be clearer in the summer than now. But anything can happen.”

Arsenal continue to hunt new players though for this month. With a deal for Emi Buendia off the table, it’s not impossible Arsenal could yet strike a deal this month.

Solomon began his career with Israeli side Maccabi Petah Tikva. He joined Shakhtar in a £5million deal in 2019 and has 12 goals in 59 appearances.
