Paper Talk: Contract details emerge as Chelsea close in on left-back deal

Chelsea are close to finally completing a deal for their top left-back target, while Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign a World Cup winner, according to Saturday’s transfer gossip.

 

CHILWELL CLOSING IN ON CHELSEA DEAL

Chelsea are reportedly finally closing in on the signing of Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell.

Numerous reports have suggested that a deal is close to being finalised. With Chilwell having ‘medical checks’ on a heel injury in London, as Chelsea are kept informed.

It is claimed that the England full-back could have a full medical as early as this weekend ahead of a move to Stamford Bridge.

The Daily Express states that the Blues will offer Chilwell as much as £150,000 per week.

The 23-year-old will be offered a five-year deal at Chelsea, worth around £8m per year.

According to Spotrak, Chilwell currently earns around £65,000 per week, totalling a yearly salary of £3.38m. He currently has four years remaining on his existing deal.

Although Leicester are demanding as much as £80m for the left-back, a deal could be done for nearer to £60m.

With Chilwell’s arrival seemingly imminent, the Blues are expected to offload Emerson Palmieri back to Serie A. Inter Milan are said to be the main suitors for the former Roma man.
