Manchester United could see Chelsea sign an unhappy star on a cut-price deal, Liverpool are ready to enter the race for a West Ham target, while Monday’s Transfer Gossip claims a Man City talent could leave for Leicester or Burnley.

CHELSEA PLOT CUT-PRICE RAID FOR HARRY MAGUIRE

Manchester United face the prospect of losing Harry Maguire after Erik ten Hag stripped the England man of the club captaincy.

The announcement by United that the 30-year-old would no longer wear the armband comes as no surprise. He has fallen down the pecking order under the Dutchman and, speculation over his future, has been rife ever since.

Maguire put out a statement to express his disappointment at the decision. However, according to The Sun, the decision to take the captaincy away from him has left Maguire ‘angry and shocked’.

Now speculation is mounting that the decision is only to pre-empt his inevitable departure from Manchester United.

As far as next clubs go, the likes of Tottenham, West Ham and Aston Villa are among those to be linked.

However, according to The Sun, it is Chelsea who are now favourites for an unlikely steal.

And they claim that while United want a fee of £50m, a deal in the region of £30m is far more likely.

Mauricio Pochettino reportedly sees Maguire as the perfect man to nurture Levi Colwill and ultimately to succeed veteran star Thiago Silva.

Pochettino’s side could face competition from Inter Milan for Maguire, while there is interest from Saudi sides Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal.

Maguire has two years left on his £200,000 a week deal at Old Trafford. United will not stand in his way if a suitable bid arrives.

LIVERPOOL READY TO SNATCH JOAO PALHINHA

Liverpool are ready to make a new push to sign Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha – just a matter of days after West Ham opened talks over a deal.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is desperate to sign a new holding midfielder this summer. He has already brought in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai as new No 8s and No 10s respectively.

However, with Fabinho likely to move to Saudi Arabia and Jordan Henderson a strong contender to follow him, the Reds still very much need new options in the middle of the park.

As a result, Liverpool are being strongly linked with a move for Southampton’s Romeo Lavia.

However, according to talkSPORT, the Reds are ready to launch a move to sign Palhinha.

The Portuguese star was a brilliant addition by Fulham following a £20m move from Sporting Lisbon last summer.

The leading tackler in the Prem by some distance, Fulham will not let him leave on the cheap.

To that end, they report talks over a £40m move to West Ham are now underway.

Liverpool, though, could look to snatch in and pinch his signing from under their noses.

Fulham rate the star highly, however, and feel a £50m asking price is more in keeping in the modern market.

LEICESTER, BURNLEY BATTLE TO SIGN MAN CITY TALENT

Leicester and Burnley are set to battle it out to sign Man City youngster Cole Palmer, according to reports.

The attacking midfielder, 21, is highly-rated by Pep Guardiola, but has found game-time limited at the Etihad.

Indeed, while he made 25 appearances in the season just gone, only three of those came as starts, with the rest off the bench.

Now Guardiola wants to further the player’s experience by sending him out on loan.

And according to Leicester Live, it is the Foxes and Burnley who are competing for his services.

The two sides both have connections with Man City through their respective managers in Vincent Kompany and Enzo Maresca.

Guardiola would ideally like Palmer to stay in the Premier League. And at Burnley, he feels he would have a good chance of featuring regularly.

But there is also a chance that he could move to Leicester too, who have already signed Callum Doyle on a season’s loan.

However, the report claims it is Burnley in the driving seat and an agreement could be quickly reached.
