Paper Talk: Everton stonewall Man Utd by demanding £80m for star

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer TEAMtalk

Man Utd have been rocked by the £80m asking price for a top attacking target, while Newcastle and West Ham are chasing a Juventus star, according to Tuesday’s newspaper gossip.

UNITED ROCKED BY STRIKER ASKING PRICE

Everton reportedly brought Man Utd’s interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin to an abrupt end earlier this summer.

The Red Devils had reportedly approached the Goodison Park outfit with a view to signing the striker, but the Toffees demanded no less than £80million in any transfer offer.

Calvert-Lewin has hit the ground running this season with four goals in Everton’s opening two games.

But it was against West Brom where the striker hit the headlines with an impressive hat-trick in the 5-2 win.

He is now being tipped to make Gareth Southgate’s England squad next month when they face Wales, Belgium and Denmark.

And it appears as though his huge potential attracted plenty of interest from top clubs earlier on this summer.

Carlo Ancelotti has managed to get the best out of the 23-year-old since replacing Marco Silva in December 2019.

His hat-trick against West Brom at the weekend takes his tally to 12 goals in just 22 games under the Italian boss.

One team in search of a new No.9 this summer is United, however a report in the Express claims they were left stunned when Everton set an £80m asking price for Calvert-Lewin.

The report adds that the £80m valuation was before his first career hat-trick, suggesting Everton would now want even more.

Chelsea and Manchester City are also mentioned as previously holding interest, but they too would think twice about making a move.
