Isak Bergmann Johannesson

A rising midfield star discusses a potential move to the Premier League, while a Manchester United man gets clarity over his exit – all in the latest Paper Talk.

JOHANNESSON DISCUSSES EXCITING FUTURE

Iceland’s hot prospect midfielder Isak Bergmann Johannesson has opened the door to a potential future move to Manchester United or Liverpool.

The 17-year-old, who plays for Norrkoping in Norway, has caught the eye of several big teams of late. Indeed club scout Stig Torbjornsen has said that all the “top clubs” are curious about the player.

Torbjornsen added that while his side feel under no pressure to sell, the right opportunity could see Johannesson leave.

What’s more, speaking to Sportbladet, the midfielder opened up on a potential avenue for his future career.

Johannesson is in fact the son of former Aston Villa man Joey Gudjonsson and was born in England.

Manchester United are my favorite team, but Norrkoping is my dream club,” the midfielder said. “I lived in Manchester when my dad played there (in England) and watched many matches.

“You can’t say that (not going to Liverpool because United are his favourite team). They’re playing good football now. City and Liverpool have been great.”

Torbjornsen added that the interest from far and wide in Johannesson has taken him by surprise.

He said: “I’ve never experienced anything like it. The interest is completely wild. It’s such a battle for the young talent. You can tell by all the calls and requests you get.

“When there’s a hype around a player, the others want to join in.”
