Liverpool are readying a January move for an Atletico Madrid star amid claims he will be sold off cheaply, a top Brentford asset has responded to Manchester United links, while Thursday’s transfer gossip claims Arsenal will launch an official bid for a £25m forward.
JOAO FELIX BEING EYED BY LIVERPOOL
Liverpool are ready to open talks over a deal for Joao Felix amid claims that Atletico Madrid are ready to accept a huge loss on the star.
The Portuguese playmaker joined Atleti from Benfica in summer 2019 for £113m. That fee places him in the top five of the most expensive transfers of all time.
However, reports in Spain, carried by The Sun, claim Atletico are willing to cash in after he slipped down Diego Simeone’s pecking order.
Indeed, he has found himself on the fringes of the side thanks, in no small part to the revival of Thomas Lemar.
The French star has emerged from the shadows this season and is playing a crucial role for Simeone.
But with Felix missing out, they are reportedly set to cash in for a vastly-reduced fee.
Indeed, widespread reports claim they are seeking around £65m for the 21-year-old – with Liverpool leading the chase.
Felix can play either as a No 10, a central striker or on the wings. And they report that Jurgen Klopp can very much see a role for Felix in his Liverpool side.
The Reds only brought in Ibrahima Konate this summer for £36m, so do have money to spend. And with their forward options in need of freshening up, Felix could provide the option.
The paper reports that Felix would further ignite Mohamed Salah, who is already showing why he’s one of the world’s best this season.
