Liverpool have a cunning plan in place to finally seal a deal for Thiago Alcantara, while Tottenham have turned their attention towards a Bundesliga star in the hunt for a new striker, according to Tuesday’s transfer gossip.

REDS LEAVING IT LATE FOR THIAGO

Liverpool will reportedly wait until the final week of the transfer window to make an official move for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.

The Reds are still understood to be favourites to sign the Bayern Munich midfielder, despite reports on Monday that they had decided against a move for the Spain star after promoting Marko Grujic to their senior squad instead.

That appeared to leave the door open for Manchester United to make their move for the 29-year-old.

However, talkSPORT claims that the Red Devils are not on the market for another midfielder after landing Donny van de Beek from Ajax.

That has left Liverpool on their own at the head of the chasing pack, but the Reds are planning to delay making their move until the eleventh hour of the summer window as they try to get the best deal for Thiago.

That’s according to talkSPORT’s transfer guru Alex Crook, who said: “We’ve spoken a lot about this one, and it’s going to go right to the wire, I think.

“If Wijnaldum goes I think Liverpool will accelerate their interest.

“I know Manchester United have spoken to Thiago’s agent but midfield is not a priority for them at the moment.

“Liverpool are still the front-runners, but they’re trying to force Bayern Munich to lower that €30m asking price.

“I’m not expecting a bid to come in probably until the final week of the window.”

The Reds have also been linked with an alternative midfielder move, with another report on Monday claiming that Jurgen Klopp had reignited his interest in Borussia Monchengladbach star Denis Zakaria. Read more…
