Manchester United are reportedly keen to sign a Liverpool icon, new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino will let a £62m Todd Boehly signing leave, while Thursday’s Transfer Gossip claims Burnley are keen on an unwanted Arsenal man.

SADIO MANE TIPPED FOR SHOCK MAN UTD MOVE

Manchester United are reportedly considering a shock approach to sign Sadio Mane this summer.

The Senegalese star departed Liverpool last summer, ending a six-season spell on Merseyside in which he became a legend.

With his deal entering its final 12 months, Liverpool decided to sell Mane to Bayern Munich for a fee which could top £35m.

However, despite a bright start, the move to Germany has not gone well for the 31-year-old.

And he allowed his recent frustrations to get the better of him by lashing out at teammate Leroy Sane to land himself a hefty club fine.

Now Mane is expected to return to the Premier League this summer with Bayern unlikely to stand in his way.

That has led to speculation of a possible move to Chelsea as Mauricio Pochettino looks to remodel his side.

Newcastle are also reportedly keen as Eddie Howe plans for what he hopes will be a long-awaited return to the Champions League.

However, Sky Deutschland now claims United are hot on his trail with Erik ten Hag a huge admirer of the Liverpool icon.

But any transfer to Old Trafford would be steeped in controversy, given the star’s strong Liverpool connections.

That said, Jurgen Klopp has ruled out a move to bring Mane back to Merseyside. Since he departed, Liverpool have signed both Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo. Luis Diaz also occupies his preferred left-wing position, while Diogo Jota sits in reserve.

Could Man Utd move for Mane?

Mane was previously a target for Manchester United back in 2015 and prior to his move to Anfield.

However, despite the links to Old Trafford, it does seem unlikely that Ten Hag would consider the move.

Now 31, there are plenty who feel Mane’s best form is now behind him. And while he would still carry a goal threat, United appear well blessed for attacking options off the wing.

Indeed, Marcus Rashford appears to play best off the left side of United’s attack – and it’s unlikely Ten Hag would move the England man to accommodate Mane.

Furthermore, the Red Devils are far more likely to spend money on a central striker this summer. To that end, Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen and Goncalo Ramos are among their top targets.

Ten Hag also wants to sign a new centre-half in the shape of Kim Min-jae. And in an ideal world he also wants a new right-back and a midfielder too.

As a result, a move is unlikely to come off.

Sky Deutschland, though, are adamant that Mane is open to the switch with his time at Bayern surely coming to an end.

Another option could open up in the form of PSG, who are contemplating life after both Lionel Messi and Neymar this summer.

CHELSEA READY TO LET MUDRYK MOVE ON

Chelsea are reportedly willing to listen to offers for Mykhaylo Mudryk – just six months after signing for the Blues.

The Ukrainian winger moved to Chelsea during the January window, being wooed by Todd Boehly at the 11th hour. Indeed, for long periods of the season, Mudryk had flirted with Arsenal, making very obvious his wish to sign for the Gunners.

However, he surprisingly went against his best intentions, joining the Blues for an initial £62m.

That fee could top an astonishing £88m with add-ons if the star achieves success at Stamford Bridge.

But the 22-year-old has never looked like hitting the heights for Chelsea. Indeed, having started just seven games in all competitions, the player has just two assists to his name.

Now claims are emerging that new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is willing to let the Ukrainian depart.

And reports in Spain claim, with the player unlikely to play a major role in his side, the Blues are open to his exit.

Alternatively, the Daily Express suggest he could also depart on a season’s loan.

And they believe a season’s loan back at previous club Shakhtar Donetsk could suit all parties.

Either way, former Liverpool star Charlie Adam believes Mudryk will not see his game-time improve under Pochettino.

Speaking on the BBC’s Monday Night Club, Adam is urging the winger to move on.

“It’s not easy when they’re on six or seven-year contracts. It’s not just what the owner wants, Pochettino is the man now. He’s to make the decision.

“He might not fancy Mudryk. He might come in and say ‘Don’t want him’.

“You have paid x amount for him, he’s on a seven-year contract. How do we get rid of him? There’s no way. He might end up on loan for three years.

“It’s about having to evaluate everything, FFP, the balance of the squad, young players coming through, they will have a problem with players out on loan next season because you can only have a certain amount out.”

BURNLEY KEEN TO SIGN ARSENAL MAN LOKONGA

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany plans to make Arsenal star Albert Sambi Lokonga his first signing of the summer.

The Belgian has done a sterling job at Turf Moor since taking charge last summer, leading them to promotion at a canter.

Indeed, he quickly found himself linked with the vacancy at Tottenham off the back of his success.

However, Kompany has opted to stay loyal to Burnley, signing a new deal to try and help re-establish the club back in the Premier League.

Now as part of that squad strengthening, he is looking to persuade Lokonga to move north to Burnley.

The 23-year-old was once dubbed the “new Yaya Toure” having emerged at Anderlecht.

That form earned him a move to the Gunners in summer 2021 and he featured heavily in his debut campaign.

But he soon fell out of favour under Mikel Arteta with the Arsenal boss showing concern at his limitations.

That led to a loan move to Crystal Palace, where he has since played nine times in the Premier League.

However, Palace are unlikely to make his loan permanent. And with Arsenal willing to let him leave, Kompany wants to reunite with his former player at Turf Moor.

According to The Sun, an offer worth around £15m will persuade Arsenal to sell with Lokonga now mulling over a potential move.
