Paper Talk: Liverpool set up first offer as talks advance for top left-back

Jurgen Klopp TEAMtalk

Liverpool advance in talks to sign a top left-back on Jurgen Klopp’s radar, while Tottenham agree a deal for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – all in the latest Paper Talk.

REDS WILLING TO PAY £10m FOR LEWIS?

Liverpool are willing to spend £10million to sign Norwich left-back Jamal Lewis, according to reports.

The Reds are short of options in the role, with Andy Robertson the only senior recognised first-team star. James Milner is Jurgen Klopp’s first choice for a deputy, while Joe Gomez can also fill in.

Previous reports claimed Lewis is on Liverpool’s radar, with the club only willing to pay for the right back-up.

Now, The Independent says Liverpool’s negotiations for the Northern Ireland international are more advanced than their rivals’.

The newspaper claims Klopp believes Lewis has a bright future and can “thrive” at the prospect of working alongside Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

What’s more, the PLG player agency represents the 22-year-old, the same agency that works with Robertson and Alexander-Arnold. The source adds that this will give Liverpool a significant advantage.

Lewis was a shining light for the Canaries as they suffered relegation back to the Championship.
