Paper Talk: Liverpool, Man City interest forces Bayern into enormous midfielder offer

Three Premier League rivals are in a battle for a promising Bayern Munich starlet, while Manchester United could miss out on one of their top targets – according to Wednesday’s transfer gossip.

BAYERN DESPERATE TO KEEP STAR AWAY FROM PREM TRIO

Bayern Munich are keen to secure the future of Jamal Musiala amid interest from three of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City are all in pursuit of the English starlet.

Musiala was born in Germany but represents England at under-21 level, despite still being 17. He previously spent eight years in Chelsea’s academy.

Like many young players have found out in recent years, leaving for the Bundesliga has been a shrewd move for his development.

Musiala moved to Bayern’s academy in 2019 and made his first team debut 11 months later, as the youngest ever player to represent the club in the Bundesliga.

He has been given even more opportunities this year, scoring three goals from eight league appearances (including just two starts). The first of those goals, on the opening day of the season, saw him become Bayern’s youngest ever scorer.

Furthermore, in November, he scored on just his second appearance for England’s under-21s. Gareth Southgate is now trying to convince him his senior international future lies with England, not Germany.

Now, clubs back in England are taking note of Musiala again. It recently emerged that Liverpool were battling their two Manchester rivals for the attacking midfielder.

Musiala is out of contract with Bayern in 2022, so could be available for an inviting price. However, the German champions have other ideas.

According to the Daily Mail, Bayern are now ready to offer Musiala a new contract. Those terms could even be worth more than £100,000-per-week.

That could tempt Musiala to commit his future to Bayern. However, Liverpool, City and United will still be watching on if he doesn’t.
