Paper Talk: Timo Werner decides next move as Liverpool, Man Utd ready bids

Liverpool and Man Utd target Timo Werner has decided which club he wants to join this summer, while Chelsea and Tottenham will battle for an RB Leipzig defender, according to Thursday’s Paper Talk.

WERNER MAKES BIG DECISION ON NEXT MOVE

Manchester United and Barcelona have both made an approach to sign Timo Werner, but the latest reports suggest the striker has decided he wants a move to Liverpool.

The 23-year-old is one of the hottest properties in Europan football, scoring 21 league goals in 23 games this season and four in RB Leipzig’s impressive run to the last 16 of the Champions League.

And Werner has a bargain £51million release clause in his contract if a deal is completed before April, as reported in The Sun.

The revelation is braced to cause a transfer scramble with the prospect of his value rocketing especially if he performs well at Euro 2020.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has prioritised signing a new frontman after selling Romelu Lukaku last summer and then missing out on Erling Haaland in January.

Barcelona are also expected to spend big in the summer as they eye a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez, but the Athletic claims that Liverpool are very much in the driving seat with Werner keen to play under fellow German Jurgen Klopp.

The Anfield chief wants a new forward to provide competition for his famed front three, while he is also braced to sell fringe stars Xherdan Shaqiri and Adam Lallana.

Indeed, Werner admitted recently how flattered he was to be linked with a club of Liverpool’s stature.
