Liverpool have been offered the chance to snap up Gini Wijnaldum’s replacement in a cut-price £18million deal, while Thursday’s transfer gossip claims that Antonio Conte could be heading back to the Premier League.
KLOPP BOOSTED IN MIDFIELDER CHASE
Borussia Monchengladbach are planning to cash in on Liverpool and Manchester City target Denis Zakaria this summer, with reports from Thursday’s media claiming the midfielder is available at a knock-down fee of £18 million.
Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl has been backed into a corner, as he faces losing one of Europe’s most promising midfielders for nothing in the summer of 2022. Zakaria has so far refused to extend his contract beyond next summer.
The Bundesliga outfit had been hoping to gain in excess of the £35m Arsenal paid for Granit Xhaka in 2016.
However, those hopes have seemingly disappeared, with Zakaria now available at £18m due to contract and injury issues.
The 24-year-old missed eight months of action with a serious knee injury recently and has struggled to replicate his form this season.
The Reds are already in the market for Gini Wijnaldum’s replacementm with the Dutchman certain to move on this summer.
As for City, they are monitoring Zakaria closely as veteran star Fernandinho closes in on his 36th birthday.
At this stage, it does appear that Zakaria is Premier League bound, it just remains to be seen who wins the race for his signature.
