Liverpool will look to the possible signing of a Real Madrid star during their upcoming Champions League clashes, a main suitor has emerged for Harry Kane, while Wednesday’s transfer gossip claims David Alaba has narrowed his choice down to two clubs.
NACHO IN LIVERPOOL SIGHTS
Liverpool will keep a watchful eye on the performance of Nacho when they come up against the defender in the Champions League.
The Reds were drawn against the Spanish giants in a mouthwatering quarter-final tie. The first leg is due to take place on April 6 at the Bernabeu, with the Anfield return on April 14. And according to AS, Liverpool scouts will use the match to run the rule over prospective summer signing Nacho. The experienced defender, 31, has just over 14 months left on his deal in the Spanish capital.
Indeed, talks over a new deal for the 22-times capped Spanish star have been halted until the season’s end. But the Spanish paper claims there is a good chance Liverpool, or even Manchester United could step in if the terms offered are rejected.
And with just 12 months left on his deal, the paper suggests the Premier League pair could land Nacho for a bargain fee. The defender – whose full name is Jose Ignacio Fernandez Iglesias – is wanting to stay. Having been at the club all his career, being a one-club man is his ambition.
However, he has often been the third option only in the Real Madrid defence. Over the years, he’s often had to make do with acting as cover for Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane. But the article claims Zinedine Zidane is depending on Nacho to play against the Reds.
And should he fail to agree terms, it’s thought Real may be forced to cash in on the long-serving defender.
The article also claims there is interest from Italy in the form of Juventus and Roma.
