Liverpool have progressed talks over a deal for a top attacking target, but won’t have the transfer funds ready until January, while Man Utd are chasing big fees for two unwanted stars, according to Saturday’s paper gossip.
ISMAILA SARR DEAL TALKS PROGRESS FOR LIVERPOOL
Liverpool are increasingly confident of signing Ismaila Sarr, according to reports.
The Premier League champions have identified Sarr as the perfect competition for their front three. Liverpool have one of the most fearsome attacks around, but do need to increase their depth in that area.
Sarr has become a major target for Liverpool after Watford’s relegation from the Premier League. The 22-year-old impressed against them when Watford became the first team to beat Liverpool in the league last season.
With Liverpool well aware of Sarr’s potential, they are now considering signing the player. Sarr is an international teammate of Sadio Mane, who could help convince him to move to Anfield.
However, any deal for the attacker won’t come cheap, with Watford said to be seeking £40million.
Now, according to Football Insider, via the Daily Express, Liverpool have held talks with the player. However, it’s claimed the Reds don’t plan to sign the Senegalese frontman this summer and only want a January deal.
It’s claimed Liverpool don’t have the finances to do the deal now – but are very much keen when the winter window opens.
However, it’s claimed Liverpool are the only suitors for the forward, while Sarr too is keen on the move.
He was left out the side on Friday night as Watford beat Middlesbrough 1-0 on their return to the Championship.
But he could look to stay match sharp and return to the reckoning between now and January ahead of the potential move to Anfield.
