Liverpool are to move for a Chelsea star with Mauricio Pochettino getting revenge by signing a £50m midfielder, Leeds are on the brink of a double Bundesliga deal, while Thursday’s Transfer Gossip claims Newcastle are to offload one winger and sign another.

KLOPP PLANS FRESH LIVERPOOL SWOOP FOR LEVI COLWILL

Liverpool are reportedly planning a firm bid to test Chelsea’s resolve to keep Levi Colwill after making the England U21 star one of their major summer targets.

The Reds have acted swiftly to strengthen their squad this summer, spending just shy of £100m on Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

However, while Jurgen Klopp still wants to add another midfielder to the mix, he is also keen to strengthen his defence. To that end, the Reds are seemingly ready to part with Joel Matip, with the former Cameroon international having just 12 months left of his deal.

And with a new centre-half on their shopping list, Liverpool are being linked with Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio.

The Portuguese star, however, would not come cheap, with the 21-year-old having a €45m (£39m) exit clause in his deal.

Instead, football.london claims Liverpool are ready to switch their focus towards Chelsea star Colwill.

The 20-year-old excelled during a season’s loan with Brighton, who are keen to keep him permanently. To that end, Chelsea have already rejected one £30m approach from the Seagulls.

And while they could come in again, they are likely to be gazumped by interest from Liverpool.

Colwill is currently impressing for England U21s, who are through to the European U21 Championship final, where they will play Spain.

And Mauricio Pochettino reportedly wants to keep the player around for the forthcoming season after selling Kalidou Koulibaly.

Chelsea could get Colwill revenge by snapping up Romeo Lavia

However, his current deal has just two years to run and Liverpool believe they can tempt Chelsea into his sale.

To that end, an offer of around £40m is reportedly being prepped.

Colwill is reportedly open to the move if he feels his first-team prospects are better served on Merseyside.

And a firm bid may well give Chelsea something serious to think about.

Pochettino would not be happy at losing the defender, although reports claim the Blues boss is planning instant revenge on the Merseysiders.

That’s amid reports the Blues are ready to elbow their way past Liverpool for Romeo Lavia.

The teenage midfielder has been given permission to leave Southampton following their relegation to the Championship. However, any move will not come cheap with Saints looking for a huge £50m for the 19-year-old.

That valuation appears to be have put off Liverpool with The Athletic‘s James Pearce claiming the price is too high for Liverpool.

And their hestitation looks set to open the transfer door for Chelsea, with Pochettino a massive fan.

After a major run of sales at Chelsea – Mason Mount to Man Utd being the latest – Chelsea are ready to spend again. And the Blues boss, having lost Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante, wants Lavia and Moises Caicedo brought in.

Unlike Liverpool, Pochettino will not have to watch the pennies and can comfortably meet the £50m price.

LEEDS ON BRINK OF SEALING DOUBLE EXIT

Leeds United are set to sign off on two exits on Thursday with Brenden Aaronson and Robin Koch departing.

The Whites are preparing for life back in the Championship and this week announced the appointment of Daniel Farke.

He is getting to work with his new charges, though at this stage, it remains uncertain which players he will have at his disposal.

To that end, there is plenty of interest in several of their players following their demotion.

To that end, the likes of Tyler Adams, Illan Meslier, Diego Llorente, Rodrigo Moreno, Wilfried Gnonto and Marc Roca are all reportedly very much in demand.

First out through the exit door, however, looks likely to be summer 2022 signing Aaronson.

The USA midfielder was a £25m signing from RB Salzburg, but failed to deliver on his early promise.

Now a loan move to Union Berlin has reportedly been signed off. Aaronson’s move to the Bundesliga side has now been agreed with the move likely to go through later on Thursday.

He will be followed out the door at Leeds by central defender Koch.

The Germany international has been linked with Tottenham and Newcastle this summer. However, he’s now agreed on a season’s loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt. And according to Fabrizio Romano, the deal is set to go through subject to a medical. That move could also be greenlighted on Thursday.

NEWCASTLE LEADING RACE TO SIGN HARVEY BARNES

Newcastle are moving to the front of the queue to sign Harvey Barnes from Leicester.

The England winger has been cleared to leave the King Power Stadium following the Foxes’ relegation. And while they are demanding a hefty £50m fee, Barnes is not short of admirers.

To that end, Aston Villa, West Ham and Newcastle are all sniffing around the 25-year-old star.

However, The Guardian reports that it is Newcastle who are leading the chase for the winger. They are reportedly ready to meet the Foxes’ asking price and will fund the move by offloading Allan Saint-Maximin.

The French winger was once one of Newcastle’s most-important players. But he’s fallen out of favour under Eddie Howe, scoring just one goal last season.

Now talks are underway over a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia for the winger.

By contrast, Barnes was extremely prolific for Leicester, despite their struggles. The one-time capped England man scored 13 goals and added one assist.

Now Howe wants him on Tyneside and is ready to beat off the competition for his services.
