Paper Talk: Major gripe makes Man Utd target bitter as Old Trafford transfer given huge lift

Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric, Raphael Varane Real Madrid

Manchester United get a big lift as a target is left feeling bitter with his current employers, while Rafael Benitez could make a shock move – both in all the latest Paper Talk.

MAN UTD BEGIN VARANE TRANSFER

Manchester United hope to meet with the agents of Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane next week to seal his transfer to Old Trafford, a report claims.

Varane is approaching a decade at Los Blancos after signing from Lens. In that time, he has become one of Europe’s most admired – and decorated – centre-backs, both domestically and internationally. However, his career has reached a crossroads with only one year left on his contract.

Madrid have attempted to tie him down to a new deal amid Sergio Ramos’ exit. According to the Sunday Mirror, though, the French World Cup winner has rejected the offer.

Furthermore, in a fresh twist, Varane feels ‘unhappy’ that Luka Modric, Lucas Vazquez and Ramos had their respective futures clarified before him.

As a result, Madrid will reportedly look to sell for £50million and United, who have had strong links with a swoop in recent weeks, have jumped on the development.

Indeed, while Paris Saint-Germain have shown interest, the centre-back wants a move to the Premier League.

He has also reportedly informed his representatives that he wants a four-year deal for his next career move.

Varane has proved a fantastic signing for Madrid, racking up 360 appearances and winning four Champions League titles.

Further forward for United, meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho remains manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top target.
