CITY READY TO RIVAL UNITED FOR £30M STARLET
Manchester City have reportedly joined arch-rivals United in the race for £30m Birmingham City youngster Jude Bellingham.
United have been following the 16-year-old midfielder’s progress throughout the season, as he continues to excel in his first campaign as a senior pro at St Andrew’s.
And according to The Sun, Bellingham’s displays have caught the eye of United’s neighbours City too.
They report states that City chief Pep Guardiola sent a scout to watch the teenager during their FA Cup fourth-round replay win over Coventry City on Tuesday night.
Bellingham is enjoying an incredible season so far, having scored four times in 28 appearances for the Blues, and is also attracting attention from Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund.
The central midfielder, who broke Trevor Francis record as Birmingham’s youngest debutant broken when he made his bow at 16 years and 38 days, oozes composure on the ball and is viewed my many to have the game to shine in the Premier League.
Despite City’s interest, United remain the firm favourites to sign Bellingham, having already had bids of £15m and £25m turned down for the player who very much fits in with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s ethos of signing young British talent.
