Transfer Gossip: Man Utd agree terms with Chelsea star as explosive move nears; Liverpool links see Newcastle go all out for £200,000 a week star
Manchester United are closing on the huge signing of a Chelsea star, Liverpool interest is forcing Newcastle’s hand over a Brazilian sensation, while Thursday’s Transfer Gossip claims Burnley are plotting a club-record swoop on PSG.
MASON MOUNT AGREES TERMS ON MAN UTD TRANSFER
Manchester United are a significant step closer to the signing of Mason Mount having agreed personal terms with the player.
The England star finds himself at a major career crossroads with his deal at Chelsea entering its final 12 months. Wanting a new deal worth three-times his current mark of £80,000 a week, the Blues have previously failed to meet his demands.
And with co-owner Todd Boehly looking to sell any star in the final year of their contract, Mount’s time at Chelsea could soon be coming to an end.
Suitors for the star are not short on the ground with Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United all keen on the 24-year-old.
However, it is United who have appeared to have moved into pole position. And with Ten Hag greenlighting the approach for Mount, it seems the club have moved a significant step nearer his signing.
That’s after the Daily Telegraph claimed that United have now agreed personal terms with the player.
And unlike the Blues, the Red Devils have effortlessy met Mount’s demands to put them in firm control of a move.
Two hurdles for Man Utd to clear to sign Mason Mount
Mount will sign a long-term deal at Old Trafford, with his pay likely to elevate him to near the top of United’s pay-scale.
Indeed, the paper reports that Mount is ‘now expected to sign’ for United with two hurdles left to clear.
First up, Manchester United still need to agree a fee with Chelsea. And while Boehly is reportedly seeking up to £70m, it’s reported a deal in the region of £55m will be struck.
Secondly, Mount will then have to pass a medical at Old Trafford before he can finalise the move.
However, as one of the fittest players on Chelsea’s books, that is not expected to be an issue.
As a result, it now seems a matter of when, not if, Mount will transfer to Old Trafford. His signing will be the first of a busy summer for both clubs as they look to shape their squad.
A second exit is also edging closer at Chelsea with Mateo Kovacic given permission to hold talks with Man City.

NEWCASTLE LOOK TO TIE DOWN LIVERPOOL TARGET BRUNO GUIMARAES
Newcastle are moving to offer Bruno Guimaraes a blockbuster new deal amid interest from a plethora of suitors, per reports.
The Brazilian has proved one of Newcastle’s best pieces of business since PIF’s takeover in the autumn of 2021.
Costing a bargain £40m from Lyon, his valuation has soared during his 18 months on Tyneside.
And his performances in the heart of midfield have helped inspire Eddie Howe’s side towards a top-four finish and a return to Champions League football.
Those displays have also alerted a string of suitors to a possible transfer approach. And the 25-year-old has seen the likes of PSG, Barcelona and Real Madrid all reportedly express an interest in his signing.
However, it is reported interest from Liverpool that perhaps has Newcastle most worried.
Jurgen Klopp is desperate to transform his midfield this summer and plans to spend big money on at least three new recruits.
As a result of their potential interest, Newcastle are now moving to tie down Guimaraes to a new deal.
His current arrangement still has three years left to run. However, as a reward for his fine performances, The Sun claims Newcastle are willing to offer him a package worth £200,000 a week.
That is a major hike of his current £120,000 a week wages and will make him the highest-earner at St James’ Park.
As a result, they claim an agreement is now close with Guimaraes making clear his love for Newcastle.
Revealing talks with Real Madrid, he clearly has a strong affection for the Magpies.
He said: “Real Madrid is the best team in the world. It is nice but it was just a conversation. It was nothing.
“I feel at home here. It’s the best thing that has happened in my life. I am living my dream here and hope to be a legend.”

BURNLEY PLOTTING SENSATIONAL RAID ON PSG FOR STAR KLOPP LOVES
Burnley want to make a big splash on PSG to mark their return to the Premier League – and reports in France claim a deal will likely be accepted.
The Clarets are back in the big time after a year away having rebuilt under Vincent Kompany. Playing an attractive, possession-based brand of football, they are now hoping to re-establish themselves in the ultra-competitive Premier League.
But doing so will require Burnley to seriously strengthen their squad.
However, reports in France claim Burnley are plotting an incredible move on PSG for Fabian Ruiz.
The Spanish playmaker moved to the French capital last summer from Napoli in a €21.5m deal last summer.
Long admired by Jurgen Klopp, PSG moved in to sign the 27-year-old ahead of rival interest from the Reds.
The move to France, though, has not gone as well as expected. And after making 37 appearances this season, PSG are now willing to sell.
Per Foot Mercato, a sizeable offer of around £25m, will convince PSG to sell.
And while it may take some persuading for Ruiz to accept Burnley’s offer, the presence of Kompany gives them hope.
Any move would shatter Burnley’s transfer record. That currently stands at the £15.2m paid to Wolfsburg for Wout Weghorst in January 2022.
