Paper Talk: Man Utd identify perfect star to compliment Bruno Fernandes

Boubakary Soumare, Maxence Caqueret

Manchester United are keen to sign a £50m-rated Ligue 1 star, but may be forced to wait until the summer, Southampton want a Leicester winger, while Mauricio Pochettino wants a Tottenham man as his first signing at PSG, according to Monday’s transfer gossip.

BOUBAKARY SOUMARE ON MAN UTD RADAR

Manchester United are reportedly battling AC Milan for Lille star Boubakary Soumare.

The Sun claims United have reignited their interest in the midfielder and see him as an ideal replacement for Paul Pogba.

United will look to offload Pogba in the next two transfer windows and see Soumare as a like-for-like replacement. Indeed, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his staff reckon Soumare can help Bruno Fernandes reach another level in the United midfield.

United could make their move as soon as they have a buyer for Pogba. However, Lille would prefer any transfer for the £50m-rated star to be done in the summer, not January.

Soumare, 21, has made 66 Ligue 1 appearances for Lille since signing from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.

The midfielder is on the verge of a senior France call-up. Lille know his value could soar should be make their Euro 2020 squad.

The side are also mounting a Ligue 1 title challenge and are two points clear of PSG at the top.

However, United will look to put a deal in place with Lille before then and could look to get something arranged now.

AC Milan, themselves looking to end a 10-year title wait, are also in the hunt for Soumare too, the report adds.
