Paper Talk: Man Utd confident of signing Liverpool midfield target for £45m

Klopp Solskjaer TEAMtalk

Man Utd are confident of beating Liverpool and Barcelona to a £45million midfielder, while Harry Kane has angered Tottenham owner Joe Lewis over his exit strategy, all in Sunday’s papers.

UNITED BANKING ON GETTING THEIR SAUL MAN

Manchester United reportedly believe that they can sign top Liverpool midfield target Saul Niguez for £45million this summer.

The Red Devils have so far snapped up long-term target Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton. A deal for Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane also remains on the cards, but United are now primed to beat their bitter rivals and Barcelona to Atletico Madrid ace Saul.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains keen on bolstering his central midfield, with ongoing concerns over Paul Pogba’s future.

And one way of doing that is landing the Spain star, who Atletico are looking to sell in order to balance their books.

Liverpool have been the frontrunners to sign the 26-year-old as a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum. Barca, meanwhile, are looking to swap former Atletico forward Antoine Griezmann for the midfielder.

However, the Daily Mail claims that optimism is building at Old Trafford that they can strike a deal instead.

Pogba decides his future, Tottenham hit with counter offer for centre-back and Harry Kane confirmed to Manchester, all in today's transfer chatter.

United are convinced that an offer of £45m will be enough to secure the player, especially with Liverpool having to sell before they can buy. Barcelona are also hampered by major wage issues, with Lionel Messi already taking a cut to remain at the Nou Camp.

Rennes prospect Eduardo Camavinga also remains a major target, although he’s said to fancy a move to Spain instead.

But while Camavinga could, eventually, become a generational talent, Saul is a proven performer at the highest level.

Other midfield options include Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka. However, the Germany star favours remaining at the Allianz Arena.
