Paper Talk: Man Utd fighting Ajax to sign Ghana attacking sensation

Man Utd are facing a battle with Dutch giants Ajax to sign a highly-rated Ghana winger this summer, while Everton are ready to make a move for a Fulham midfielder, according to Sunday’s papers.

UNITED BATTLING AJAX FOR WINGER

Dutch champions Ajax are reportedly trying to steal a march on Manchester United in the pursuit of promising Ghana winger Kamaldeen Sulemana.

Ajax’s director of football and former Arsenal winger, Marc Overmars, is set to travel to Denmark on Monday to watch the 19-year-old in action for his club Nordsjælland against FC Copenhagen.

According to the Mail on Sunday, the Amsterdam outfit have already had a £10million bid turned down for the winger in the January transfer window. However, they are ready to up their offer to fend off interest from United’s transfer chief Matt Judge and German club Bayer Leverkusen.

Sulemana, who can play on either wing, rose to prominence in Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy, who own Nordsjaelland and use them as a shop window for their most promising young players.

Ajax signed 20-year-old Mohammed Kudus from Nordsjaelland last summer, with the player helping them to a 35th Eredivisie title win this season.

Sulemana is tipped to become the most successful footballer from Ghana since Michael Essien starred at Chelsea.

He has scored five goals in his last five games in Denmark and was named the league’s Player of the Month for April. He also made his international bow back in October.

United did land wingers Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellestri last summer, but they are still on the hunt for more young, attacking talent.

Sulemana certainly fits the bill in what they are looking for. However, it looks like the Red Devils will have to act quickly to beat Ajax to the punch.
